Elefanta salvaje destroza casas en el oeste de India (Fotos)




Una elefanta salvaje entró en una localidad del oeste de India, destrozando casas y provocando una estampida de asustados residentes. 
 El atemorizado animal pisoteó autos y motos estacionados mientras una multitud lo observaba desde balcones y azoteas. Algunos lo siguieron a una distancia prudencial mientras recorría las calles. 
 
La elefanta salió desde el bosque Baikunthapur el miércoles, y cruzó carreteras y un pequeño río antes de entrar a la localidad de Siliguri en el estado de Bengala Occidental. 
 
El animal parecía estar solo y buscando comida cuando se desvió y se adentró en el pueblo, dijo el responsable de bosques de la región, Basab Rai. 
 
No atacó a ninguna persona y parecía tener miedo de quienes se le acercaban, agregó. Tras varias horas perdida, perecía claro que la elefanta no podía encontrar el camino de vuelta al bosque. 
 
Finalmente, las autoridades le dispararon tres dardos tranquilizantes y utilizaron una grúa para meterla en un camión una vez se tranquilizó. 
 
Fue trasladada a un parque especial para paquidermos domesticados que está gestionado por el departamento de bosques. Una vez se desvanezca el efecto de los tranquilizantes, las autoridades tienen previsto devolverla a su entorno, apuntó Rai.
